2025 Men’s Premier League Coach - Glen Hurney

Glen Hurney

With our 2024 Head Coach, Alex Russell, departing Cairns to return home to the UK, the Club is excited to confirm Glenn Hurney as the Senior Men's Head Coach for 2025.

Glenn has coached the Leichhardt U14 and U16 FQPL teams over the past two seasons, leading them to two Grand Finals. As a player, Glenn is a Leichhardt “old boy” and was part of Leichhardt’s last premiership-winning team.

He started as a Tully Junior and was a consistent member of FNQ representative teams. Additionally, he was selected for numerous Queensland teams and was part of both the Peninsula and Queensland Schoolboy teams during his junior career.

He began his senior playing career at age 15 and spent time at Premier League Club Everton after being identified and invited to trial. He also had the opportunity to join Brisbane Roar’s initial training squad when they entered the A-League.

Throughout his senior playing days, he won multiple Premierships, Grand Finals, and accolades including the Crad Evans award and Player of the Year awards. He was involved in the Far North Senior Representative setup from age 16, participating in various State Cups, State Leagues, and representative competitions. Furthermore, he was part of the FNQ Bulls teams that re-entered the state league from 2009 onward. We are thrilled to welcome such a well-respected local football identity who will look to refresh the squad for the upcoming season.
